Library Update Bess Streeter Aldrich Museum Memorial Day Events Area News Cass County News
Congratulations to the twenty-seven seniors that graduated in the Elmwood-Murdock Class of 2017. Graduation is not an individual event, but a community event in our community.
For those that were not able to attend graduation, you can watch the entire ceremony on the Elmwood-Murdock Strive television network on demand. You can listen to the Whitney Koehn positive "millennial" speech or hear the accomplishments of years seniors.
Congratulations to Valedictorian Whitney Koehn and Shailee Hayek as the Salutatorian. The class of 2017 has some amazing accomplishments from being on All-State Choirs three years in a row, achieving volleyball greatness and football individual records that will remain memories for many years to come.
There are many memories and traditions of graduation will never fade and are looked forward by many. Some of those include the "Rose ceremony" where seniors give their Mom and other special people in their lives a rose. Many a tear is shed during this rose ceremony. Another favorite part of EM graduation ceremony is the senior slideshow.

Then there are the graduation parties and open houses. To those who have never experienced the marathon of graduation day there is a strategy to getting to all the parties without making yourself sick on food and cake.
Good luck to the Class of 2017 and we cannot wait to see the accomplishments you achieve in your life ahead. Please keep in touch as you go on your way. Subscribe to the newsletter and stay in touch with your hometown by subscribing to the weekly news.

Dan Witte
STUDENT OF THE WEEK
I would like to thank all of the people this year that sent in nomination forms for our Student of the Week program. We had the ability to recognize several students for four different school districts who have excelled in a variety of activities and had academic accomplishments this year.
This recognition is made possible by the combined efforts of our Nebraska Community Websites and their weekly newsletters and the Plattsmouth Journal. Without these publications, the only recognition given to the students would be through Witte Physical Therapy’s various social media outlets.
Next year the program will return with some minor changes to help strengthen its purpose and provide the selected students with the recognition they deserve for their accomplishments.
Thank you again for supporting these deserving students!
Sincerely,
Dan Witte, PT, DPT, OCS

A LOVING, LASTING TRIBUTE...
Last October 20, 2016, as children were anxiously anticipating Halloween and lots of trick-or-treating, a beautiful, young family of six perished in the night, as their rural home went up in flames. Four little girls, Elli, Adilynn, Emma, ages 11, 7 and 5, were students at Conestoga Elementary and had many friends, in and around the surrounding area, as did their baby sister, Anniston, 2, and their parents, Mike and Michelle Speer.
In honor of her family, JoLynne Lehan, Mike's mom, has directed that donations go to Conestoga's outdoor classroom, Cougar Hollow. With the four little girls' love of performing, playing and being out-of-doors exploring nature, in mind, the new additions for this special area will include a pavilion for outdoor instruments, a chalkboard, and chairs. A memorial fountain will be added at a later date.
A brick walking path will direct visitors to this special area. If you would like to honor this family with a loving tribute, you may purchase a memorial brick paver for $75. You may add any name to be engraved on the brick. There is space for 3 rows, with each row including a total of 14 characters, (including spaces). The clock is ticking...you need to order soon.
