Stories in the Street
Rain forced the Stories in the Streets inside the Elmwood-Murdock Elementary but it didn't damper the fun!
Alicia Clements was the main speaker and her kids represented the Cat in the Hat. I just love the Thing ONE and Thing TWO. It was one of my favorite books when I was little.
Music by Tom Lucas was enjoyed by all and people read parts of their favorite books.
Tracey Ashlocks' kids really got into the spirit of books and dressed as Junie B Jones (above top left) and Harry Potter.
Can you guess the theme of this April Bacon and her kids? Farmer in the Dell! What a cute little farmer and pig!

.Kids had their faces painted by Mz Purplepocketz and there was a line the kids didn't want to leave. She certainly has her fans.

There was FREE activities for all ages with Door Prizes and Music!
A costume parade saw kids and adults dressed as their favorite book character.

BBQ lunch for sale! Bake sale to benefit FCCLA!
Tons of FREE great books!!!

The kids and parents both had a blast and it was a great alternative to staying inside in the rain.
Senator Robert Clements addressed the crowd and spoke of the importance of reading, public libraries, and about Bess Streeter Aldrich.
Don't think that fun with books is over. The event was just a sneak peek of the fun you can have at our local library.
Your public library is so much more than books. Movies, audio, Internet access, wi-fi, plus friendly, helpful staff to help you make sense of it all. Drop by today!

Andrea and Trent were so quick the dogs and cats didn't even know what hit them. Th eeven was so popular it is going to be repeated on May 20th.

Superintendent Dan Nowak Retires
After 37 years Dan Nowak will be retiring. He only has a few weeks left and throughout this past school year there have been many "lasts". Last week was the Athletic banquet.
A complete article with the Plattsmouth Journal outlines his very illustrious career.
Novak is currently tied with Jack Moles of Johnson County Central for the second-longest tenure as superintendent of any school in the state. Both have been in their positions for 22 years. Dr. Jon Cerny of Bancroft-Rosalie is the dean of Nebraska superintendents with 24 years of service.
The Elmwood-Murdock TeamMates
The Elmwood-Murdock TeamMates chapter is looking for volunteers to be on our board. As a board, we meet four times a year to oversee the organization and make decisions on maintaining the program.
Specifically, we are looking for someone to take on the role of our organization's treasurer. The job requires attending board meetings, sending in treasurer reports, keeping track of our funds and writing checks if necessary. There will be training for this position to help you learn the role.
If you are interested in joining our organization and don't feel like you have the time to be a mentor, joining the board is a great way to get involved.
If interested, please contact JoDee Paulsen at Elmwood-Murdock Public Schools
