Richard Clements recently reached a milestone of working for 40 years in Elmwood. He began full time at American Exchange Bank as Assistant Cashier on Feb. 1, 1976, earning $3.00 per hour. He joined his father's law practice at the same time, which is now known as Clements & Drevo. Rick and his twin brother Rob began around age 10 by taking out the trash, and later putting tar on the old bank roof. Rick became bank President in 1985 and continues to be an active attorney and licensed real estate broker in Elmwood. He is President of the Elmwood-Murdock Education Foundation which he helped organize in May, 1991. Rick and Mickie have two children. Aaron, of Elmwood, began working at the bank in 2015. Angela lives in California and practices law in San Francisco. They are blessed with 5 grandkids. Rick and Mickie are active in Faith Bible Church in Lincoln and thank the Lord for life's blessings and for the friendship and support of the community in which they serve

What's Been Happening Up at the Community Center?

Francis at his 85th birthday celebration.

B-I-N-G-O!!! Bingo day is always a blast!!

Monday morning exercise class gets the blood pumping and everyone works up an appetite.

This is the griddle used for the pancake feed. Lois Bornemeier is quite fond of it because her late husband, Jerry, and her son, Mick, made the griddle. The center considers themselves blessed to be able to borrow it every year.

Good food, laughs, and good conversation with Dwight Clements.

Elmwood's clergy teamed up to fill the boxes for the troops.
There is always something fun happening at the Elmwood Community Center. Stop up for lunch sometime and join in!

Lofte Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition February 28
The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley has announced that it will hold its annual meeting and volunteer recognition event on Sunday, February 28 at 2pm. 2016 marks the 40th season for the theater and this year is being touted as the “Ruby Jubilee.”
The Board of Directors invites anyone who has volunteered their time (ushers, parkers, actors, set-builders, etc.) made a donation or even attended a show over the years. This is a family-friendly event and children are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
Lofte Artistic Director Kevin Colbert says, “The memories of the last forty years are like a tidal wave, so many people, so many stories and so much history. However, my greatest satisfaction is seeing the family and friends of a performer rush the stage after a show and tell an actor how much they enjoyed a performance. It’s a feeling of self worth that can last someone a lifetime.”
Lofte Treasurer Ken Patry will present financials. Ticket Booth Manager, Jean Colbert will give an attendance report. Elections will be held for board vacancies. Kevin Colbert will review 2015 and present previews of 2016 and 2017 seasons. The Lofte will also acknowledge the three most valued volunteers for the past year.
