Meet the Burrows!

Something is different around town. Maybe you've noticed? Neighbors moving out...new neighbors moving in? Quite a few houses have changed hands lately and we can thank a new realty company in Elmwood for this.

Bj Burrows recently opened Burrows Tracts, LLC, and is an agent with DEEB Realty. He uses Burrows Tracts for rentals and property management and DEEB Realty is the brokerage that he markets all the listings through. DEEB is an Omaha based brokerage, but gives him the opportunity to sell property anywhere in Nebraska. Bj has a degree in Information Technology and is a member of EMMA (Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association) and is on the Volunteer Fire Department. Bj's goal is to build a team of agents that would help out in the Omaha and Lincoln markets. He would like to acquire more land and acreage listings in the area since he has a large client base looking right now.
Many people have asked Bj why he is able to sell so many houses in the smaller communities when others have been unsuccessful. It is very simple he says. One of the biggest advantages he has is listing properties in both Lincoln and Omaha MLS (Multiple Listing Service). Without this ability you would have to hire two agents, one from each major city to get the same exposure for your listing. Bj also has a degree in technology which gives him the edge with marketing properties as they should be in today's world. The fact that he also has a background in farming, enjoys small towns, and meeting new people definitely helps, too!

Bj and his wife, Kristy, live on an acerage outside of Elmwood with their 1 1/2 year old son, Brayam, Bray for short. Bj and Kristy enjoy social events, time with the family, and a variety of different hobbies. Kristy has a degree in Graphic Design and is the owner of Impulsive Works Photography. The two entrepreneurs share the old bank building on main street in Elmwood. Starting May 1st they will have a monthly drawing for a gift card, Burrows Tracts sweatshirts, or a coupon from a local vendor. To enter all you have to do is stop in and fill out a card. They are encouraging all local businesses to stop in and drop off their business cards, flyers, even coupons to enter in the drawing.

Bj feels that the most important thing to make a community successful is to promote other businesses and push for new ones. When people are looking to move to a community there are several factors that can sway them one way or another and the business presences is one of the largest factors. If you are thinking about starting a business stop in and talk to Bj about current and future opportunities. If you need ideas he can help you think of some.

Bj and Kristy invite anyone to stop in and check out their new office. Hours in the Real Estate world can vary but for the most part Monday, Wednesday, & Friday they are open from 7:30 - 4:00. Bj is often in the office later though so if you see a light on stop in and visit him. If you would like to set up an appointment feel free to stop in, call, text, or email him.
Bj feels privileged to be a member of this community. He would like to say "Thank You" to those who have already supported him and he is looking forward to meeting each and every one of you!
More about Kristy and Impulsive Works Photography to come later!!

SOS Carnival Gives the Kids and Parents a Fun Night!

The Elmwood Murdock Famous Spring Carnival Cake Walk is the most popular event. The treats are magnificent!

Rosie was ready to win!!!

Her buddy Avery was also planning on taking a cake home.

Cara was playing music and calling the numbers. #3 is the winner! Pick your cake!

These lovely moms were running the kitchen. A big thanks to everyone who made this event a success. A carnival doesn't plan itself and it takes a lot of work by a very few people. A thankless job that is appreciated by many. Amy Rikli and Erin Clymer deserve a lot of credit.

Carrie Nunez manned the cotton candy machine all night! A sticky job but she was one of the most popular moms that night.

Jeff Clymer and his grilling partner kept the meat coming. No one should have walked away hungry!

My son, Joe, volunteered to help out running the bowling game. He had a great time even though he looks bored.

The inflatables have been a great addition to the carnival. There has always been a bounce house but this takes it to a whole new level.

Theresa Hansen and Tiffany Meisinger wait for Sophie to pick a balloon. She's a little to young for darts but she could grab one!

The raffle had some great donated prizes.
Thanks to everyone who made this a success! You all rock!

The corner of 5th and East C Street is looking better and better! This weekend a man in a backhoe made quick work of cleaning up an old house that had been burned down. Hopefully something new will go up on this lot but if not...at least it looks a lot better! Thanks to those who are involved with the clean up!
