John Bruns

As you look around town you can see the many places that John Bruns left his mark even though you wouldn't know it was him.  From the new basketball court at the park to various brick projects around town to the many, many patches in the streets that he has repaired John has left his mark.  He knew concrete and bricks.  He was teaching his boys, too.  Dylan and Tyler were often seen working by his side.  That all came to an end Tuesday when John was killed when the truck he was driving was hit by a train.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Miki and the boys.  John will be greatly missed.

Elmwood Murdock Cheerleaders Score at State Championship!

The Co-coach for the squad, Lori Spohr, had this to say about the event.

"A mighty group of 6 made an awesome debut at the State Cheer and Dance Championships in Grand Island Saturday and came home placing 3rd in C2 non-tumbling division.  Something to really be proud of!  Congratulations to Kimball and Weeping Water who placed first and second in the division!  Cass County was very well represented with competitive cheer or dance teams there from every school. Finally a very special thank-you to my co-coach Saranne Vogt-it is truly a blessing to work with you and this fantastic group of young ladies!  Looking forward to an exciting 2014-2015 year!"

Not only did we celebrate the Elmwood Murdock Cheerleaders accomplishment but on a personal note our granddaughter's cheerleading team finished first in C1!  Madison is a senior this year and has always worked hard to achieve her goals and this was a big one for her.  Congratulations, Madi!  We are proud of you!

Mommy Makeover

Kelli Brewer was selected to get the Mommy Makeover from 10/11 News.  Kelli retired from the military and besides being an incredible mom to Travis and Kalee she also is standing by her man, Col. Tom Brewer as he runs for Congress.  Kelli has dedicated her life to her family, her career, and her community.  She volunteers at her church and her school and is always ready to help out.  Kelli was so deserving of this makeover.  It's time for her to take some time for herself and now she can do it looking as beautiful on the outside as we know she is on the inside.
