Oral Kuehn

Veteran in the Spotlight – today we salute Oral Kuehn – World War II combat veteran. Tank Unit Commander with the 317th Infantry Regiment of the 80th Infantry Division. Set sail for Europe 1 July 1944 aboard the SS Queen Mary, arriving 7 July 1944 at Greenock, Firth of Clyde, Scotland. The Division crossed the English Channel in LSTs and Liberty Ships landing in Normandy on Utah Beach shortly after noon on 2 August 1944, and quickly became the “work horse” of General Patton’s 3rd Army. They played a key role in the famed 3rd Army breakthrough at Avranches. Oral’s decorations include the Purple Heart, European- African-Middle Eastern Campaign Service Medal, as well as the World War II Victory Medal. If you see Oral around town this week, be sure and thank him for his unselfish service to our country.

Many vendors and shoppers came out for the big event. There was so much to look at and so little time.
