Springfield Days June 7 & 8, 2013
SPRINGFIELD, NE. The theme for this year's Springfield Days city celebration will be “Springfield Days – A Hidden Treasure”. The two day event will include a Friday night outdoor movie, a fun run, live music, a Show ‘N Shine car show, children's parade and grand parade, the annual duck drop race down Main Street and a fireworks display Saturday night. This year’s special grand parade Marshalls will be Springfield Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department members.
In keeping with this year's theme the community will also sponsor a pirate look-a-like contest. "We always try to make this a fun, family-friendly event.” said Keith Hentzen, owner of the Springfield Drug Old Fashioned Soda Fountain.
The celebration runs Friday night, June 7 from 5:30pm until 11:00pm and Saturday, June 8 from 8:00am to 10:30pm. Most activities are free and open to the public. Children's Auditions at Lofte Theatre
Manley, NE [May 27, 2013] - Auditions for the Missoula Children's Theater production of 'The Frog Prince,' will be held Monday, June 10 at 10am at the Lofte Community Theatre near Manley. These auditions are open to all children who will be entering first grade through entering seventh grade this fall. Approximately sixty children will be cast. The auditions will last approximately two hours with roles and rehearsal schedules being distributed by noon.
The actors cast in the production will rehearse 10am-2pm each day that week. It is important that the children be able to attend all of their scheduled practices. There will be two public performances of, 'The Frog Prince,' on Saturday, June 15th. The first is at 3pm and the second at 6pm. Adult admission is $8 and children age 12 and under are only $5. Lofte season ticket holders are admitted for free.
The Lofte is proud to host the 2013 summer residency of the Missoula Children's Theater for the eighty straight year. This year's residency is sponsored by the Home State Bank in Louisville and the Plattsmouth State Bank. MCT is a non-profit organization based out of Missoula, Montana. Their mission for nearly fifty years has been to help children develop life skills through the participation in the performing arts. Over the course of this year, their organization will reach nearly 60,000 children worldwide!

Lofte Seeking Volunteers
Manley, NE [May 27, 2013] - The Lofte Community Theatre near Manley has many opportunities for volunteers to come and see the productions free of charge. Specifically, they are seeking individuals to help usher and direct parking lot traffic during the run of 'Dixie Swim Club.' Production dates are May 31, June 1, 2 and 6-9.
Volunteers are required to arrive 45 minutes prior to show time. They work for the 30 minutes prior to curtain and then are asked to stay and clean the auditorium after the show is done. Clean-up usually takes approximately 30 minutes.
Volunteering at the Lofte is a great way to meet new people and contribute to Nebraska's only barn theater venue! Those interested may call Lofte Volunteer Coordinator Carly Moore-Sird at 402-616-5987.
