Another Holiday Extravaganza is in the books! The record books of fun, that is!
With the 2012 Holiday Extravaganza just a memory I managed to capture some of the events to show you. It was a great day for the Holiday Extravaganza. The streets were lined with cars all day. Shoppers were treated to two grand openings at Then and Again and also at the Gather Boutique. The craft show at the Josoff Social Hall was again a hit. People were able to have lunch at Josoff's or at the Elmwood C Store. The 4th Street Market not only had tons of Nebraska made products but also had wine tastings all day. I personally hit the wine tastings a couple times through out the day. We took the grandkids to the Elmwood Public Library for the kids crafts and games. They decorated a snowman and frosted a cupcake. They also got to play bingo. Emma and Zack wanted to do some shopping at Bits and Pieces, too. The Ole Candy Shoppe was set up by the Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association. The local businesses were invited to set up a Christmas display and also donated candy to be sold. The proceeds benefit the local backpack program.
During the afternoon there was a Parade of Homes sponsored by the Elmwood Murdock Booster Club. About a hundred people bought tickets for the tour. I didn't get to go but I heard it was awesome!
The Starry Knight parade was a bit chilly but very well attended! Lots of families were on main street to watch the parade. There were about a dozen entries or more. The kids were excited for the candy!
Every year the event is bigger and better. A special thanks to all the members of EMMA who made this possible. There is a lot of planning involved with making it happen from the Pancake feed to the community party at the end of the night. A big thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the festivities, too. The merchants appreciate all their customers and were glad to see such an awesome turnout.
Now...for some pictures of some of the events!
Pancakes!!!!
Suzie Allgayer pours the coffee for her son, Mac.
Our grandson Zack loved the pancakes.
Noah Willey had a stand at the craft show for kids to make their own jewlery. He was raising money for his brother for Ben's Brigade for next year's Down Syndrome walk.
Teri McClun had tons of beautiful flower barretts among other things.
These door hangings are hot this year! Especially the Husker ones.
Spoon windchimes at the Thirty-One booth.
Bonnie's Rada Sales also has cutlery at the 4th Street Market.
Merry Drake's wreath making became a hobby for her when she quit smoking. She needed something to do to keep busy and she settled on wreathes.
All jewelry at this stand was $5 or less. And it was really pretty!
This vendor promised that his blankets were warm and his wind ornaments wouldn't tarnish. He was quite charming.
Kendra Wolph and a friend made all of these beautiful glass items.
They would look beautiful in a flower garden or yard.
Beth Philson opened her Vivid Image Photography and teamed up with her friend, Dawn Hromanik. Beth is a great photographer and can take your pictures for you. Dawn's business, 3 Quarters Images, can produce the pictures for you. They have so many exciting ideas and options.
Print Like Flint from Weeping Water had examples of their printed products.
Jana Ross started making these last summer and just can't stop.
Great candy trays!
These would be good plant stands.
Jessica Brockhoff discovered she likes to make bows.
Pat Spellman had her cute crafts. She has been to a lot of craft shows this year!
While waiting for Santa at the fire hall Christian Brettmann came over and introduced himself to Zack and Emma and they discussed what they were going to ask Santa for...I think they are friends for life now.
Nathan Brettmann put Rebecca on his shoulders so she could easily spot Santa.
And then the Big Guy made a grand entrance!!
Every child visiting Santa received a bag of treats.
Finally Christian go to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas.
Rebecca, on the other hand, didn't feel like talking.
Zack had plenty to tell Santa. Emma wants a Barbie.
The Cronk kids are pretty tight with Santa. He loves getting his picture taken with them.
The 4th Street Market had a unique Christmas Tree at the Ol' Candy Shoppe. Deb assures me that she and Coleman didn't drink all the wine from these bottles...but most.
Angie Friesell and Pat Ervin are EMMA members helping out at the Ol' Candy Shoppe. Okay, maybe Pat was just shopping. His business, Fountain Creek DezignWorks had a tree there. Pat does all the designing and producing of the EMMA flyers and newsletters. He is awesome!

Cooper, Jackson, and Tucker listened very intently to the story read to them by Miss Janet, the librarian.
Main Street was literally lined with cars for two blocks. The side streets were lined, too. That's a lot for Elmwood!
The FBLA wrote the names of local veterans on the red stripes and then sewed this flag together. Some was hand sewn. It was displayed outside the G.A.R. Veteran's Museum. They carried the flag in the parade, too.
