John and Debra McNaught wish to invite those in the community who have no other plans for Thanksgiving to join them, Thursday, November 24, for a turkey dinner. With the help of Jim Nelson we will be serving from 11:30 to 1:30 (or until the food give out) at CD's Xpress.
We request that you sign up for the meal so we can approximate the amount of food to prepare. A list will be at CD's Xpress, or call Debra evenings at 402-781-9356 or days at 402-994-2653. If no one answers at either number, leave a message on just one of the phones. Thank you!

Opportunity to Give A Wonderful Christmas Gift
Sherryl Vogt of the Heartland Flooring Center was excited to talk to me a couple weeks ago. Her daughter-in-law, Jen Vogt, is moving back to town and opening a design business. More news was that the Heartland Flooring Center has a new installation provider, Heiserman Installations. Because of all this excitement they decided they wanted to do something to celebrate and to do something for a deserving person in Elmwood – Murdock area. They came up with a free bedroom makeover. The extent of the makeover depends on the condition of the bedroom to be made over. They want people to nominate friends or themselves even. You do have to be a homeowner but other than that the criteria is pretty open. Forms for nominations are due December 1st and are available at the Heartland Flooring Center. If anyone wants to help out with this or if you have questions about it please give Sherryl a call. She would love to tell you about this project!

Wine Tasting Event Warmed My Toes
I stopped in Friday at the 4th Street Corner Market Friday when I heard there was a wine tasting. I haven't been able to make it to one yet so I was excited to see what all the hubbub was about. Friday afternoon proved to be quiet wine tasting event when I was there. I have heard that they are usually very crowded. I can appreciate a good glass of wine so I was glad that Deb offered to open them for me. The first was so warm and cozy I could feel it down to my toes. I could have curled up with a book and a glass of that wine! The second one was a drier wine that made me wrinkle up my nose. Deb said that most people report they develop an appreciation for it over time. I think I would just stick with the first. The wines at the 4th Street Market come from local Nebraska winerys. Deb meets with the people who make the wind and hand selects the wines she sells. Wine makes great Christmas gifts...hint, hint.
Deb had to open the wine herself because Coleman was working in the fields that day. She did a great job...didn't shoot the cork arcross the room.
It has been a few weeks since I had been into the 4th Street Market so I was surprised to see all the new items for sale. Deb has worked with local dealers to get Nebraska made products for her store. She is stocked and ready for Christmas! Saturday is the Elmwood Holiday Extravaganza and she is ready for many holiday shoppers.
Mixes make a great Christmas gift. They are delicious and everyone appreciates the thought.
Jenn Koutecky of Alvo displays her handmade jewelry.
Tifanie Vogt's uncle found an outlet for his famous BBQ sauce. Oooolahlah!
The snowmen are locally made, too. I just love them!
Need a piece of fabric to complete that craft project? Deb's got a lot to choose from!
This Christmas tree is not just for looks...you can shop right off the tree! Pick up a memorable ornament for your tree.
You can pick up Thanksgiving decorations, too.
This snowman is in camo...can hardly see him!
The Keith West Magic Show Saturday night was once again a hit. For more pictures of the event check out the Murdock newletter by clicking here!
Thanksgiving with my family was a great time. I love my family. This is for all the family who couldn't make it Saturday. I know you are loyal readers of the Elmwood Newsletter and would appreciate pictures from our day.
Paula and her son, Gary, send out greetings to everyone. Millie looks a lot like Paula and has some of the same mannerisms.
My cousin, Marcy and her daughter, Annie, could be sisters they look so much alike.
Someone always has to blink! It was Aunt Pat's turn.
The kids quickly found a deck of cards and started a game of Hand and Foot. Or was that Knee and Elbow? I'm not sure but they were having fun.
Somehow I managed to escape the clean up this time. I think I'll have to make up for it at Christmas.
Maggie and Maddison went through old cards looking for clues into the past. Just what makes Paula tick?
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving with your families. Enjoy your turkey and all the fixings. Enjoy the ballgames, enjoy the shopping. But most of all enjoy your families and the special memories you will be making. If you want to share special pictures with us please send them to me! What does Thanksgiving mean to you? Share with us.
