Manley, NE [July 5, 2011] - The Lofte Community Theatre announces that its summer musical, "Annie," will open Friday, July 22, 2011.
“Annie” is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. Soon Annie befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a loveable mutt named Sandy.
Ellie Swanson of Lincoln stars in the title role. Kris Raasch (also of Lincoln) plays he cantankerous Oliver Warbucks. Anna Stroebel of Omaha plays the conniving Miss Hannigan. Players from the Elmwood-Murdock area include Keri and Rylee Hogue, Ross Mumford, Lizzy Pegler, Christine Schmitt, Katie Schmitt, Cody Brown, Luke Ervin, Jeff Johnston, Wade Mumford, Tim Sorensen and Aaron Spracklin. The production is directed by Lofte Artistic Director, Kevin Colbert.
Performance dates are July 22-24, 28-31 and August 4-7. Curtain times are 7:30pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays are 2pm matinees. Tickets for adults are $18. Children under the age of 12 are only $10.

The Fellowship of Christian Athelete's Adult Booster Meeting will be held on Wed., July 20 at 7 p.m. at the Murdock School. Anyone welcome.
Mark Luetchens to give the message on Sun., July 24 at the United Methodist Church in Murdock. The worship service will start at 9:30 a.m.
Bits & Pieces has a new sign. And the Elmwood Meat Plant is advertising on a stand outside so check it out for the specials! Bits & Pieces is undergoing some renovations so it is just half its normal size but is still full of treasures!
Kurk Shrader was busy watering the flowers on main street in Elmwood. Normally Greg Stille has been doing this but Kurk gave him the day off. It is a big job to keep the geraniums hydrated so I wanted to say thank you to Greg and Kurk for taking care of them! They look beautiful!
All it takes to keep kids entertained is an IPod. They were good as gold taking turns with the IPod. Joe knows how to babysit!
