City Wide Clean Up Day Brings Out the Trash!

Village Board Members and volunteers unload the pickups and trailers of junk.

Dumpsters line the street.

Volunteers are needed to help make the 2nd Tyler Eggert Memorial Tournament a success! Please contact Cindy Backemeyer (402-994-4205) for Elmwood or Tammy Lockman (402-867-2193) for Murdock if you would like to help.

WHAT A STORM! Will it ever quit raining?

Pat Lehr's house sustained quite a bit of damage. He was sitting out
on the back porch waiting for the insurance adjuster.

A limb fell on his house and another on his garage.

The whole house was surrounded by tree branches.

The Petersen's also had a huge limb fall but at least this fell by their
wood pile. It won't take Jordan long to take care of that!

Josh Schwaller and his mom, Tammy, were already out cutting up their mess.
Unusual Shopper at Bits & Pieces

Just about everyone stops in at Bits & Pieces once in awhile. Saturday was Shroder's turn.
He was in town with his owners for a family reunion and had to check out the joint. He was
looking for a new doggie dish.
Who says an apron isn't manly? Manly enough for this miner!

Luke Petersen and Paige Tuttle clowned around on Luke's last day
at CD's Express. Luke is off to the mines near Weeping Water for a
full time job. It will be sad to see him go!

Now Jordan Vogt will have to step up. That's a might pretty apron
that Jordan will have to fill. Luke is sure Jordan is up to it.
Cass County Fair is just weeks away!
The theme for the Cass County Fair this year is "Carnival Lights and Country Nights." How appropriate! The county fair has been a tradition in America for years. Some fairs consist of only 4-H projects and livestock shows. 4-H projects could be homegrown vegetables, homemade baked goods, paintings, craft projects, quilts, or photographs. They could be created by children, teens, or adults. Many people participate and enjoy the activities. The livestock showing also is a family project. Kids need the support of their parents to be able to raise the animals, bring them to the fair, and show them. It teaches the kids responsibility. Some fairs have a carnival, too. For those of us who grew up attending the annual county fair the lights, the sounds, the smells of the county fair are engrained in our souls. The anticipation of the thrill of the rides, the nervous anticipation of seeing the boy or girl you like, and the socializing with friends and the cotton candy all create the memories that we hold special. Carnival Lights and Country Nights is a perfect theme for the Cass County Fair. Click here for more details about the 2010 Cass County Fair!
