The Sheldon Family Snowmen

Pinewood Derby

The cub scouts had their annual Pinewood Derby at the Flying Wheels Sunday.Todd Zediger from the scouting counsel made a presentation to the boys and their families about the benefits of scouting before the races.  Nineteen boys brought their heat to the rink that day.  Closely followed by their pit crew...the pit crews were made up of dads, moms, grandparents, and friends.  After some last minute adjustments the cars were ready to roll!  Josh Lockman took the overall blue ribbon.  Everyone had a great time cheering for their favorite cars and boys.

Our hearts are saddened this week at the loss of a dear friend.  Joel Furgerson lost his courageous battle with cancer.  He is now free and watching over his friends and family.  Mary and Justin are in our prayers as they grieve and carry on.  Joel will be remembered in our hearts and prayers.

Heart Health: The Drugless Way to Prevent Heart Disease

Cardiovascular diseases were exceedingly rare until about halfway throught the last century. Physicians sometimes had to travel hundreds of miles to see one case, and that was probably going to be their only chance. What happened? How did a disease that was once so rare become such a killer?

Join us for our monthly one-hour seminar where we talk about the causes of heart disease and the proven treatments and preventions. This information may save your life.

Dr. You- If you haven't yet attended one of our Dr. You lectures, please call us at the office for dates and times of the upcoming opportunities to learn about how your body monitors itself and how best to help it do it's job.

STUDENT CONDUCT AT BASKETBALL GAMES

Elementary students should come to games with a parent or other responsible adult and not just be dropped off at the school.  Children should be under the supervision of a parent or other responsible adult during the basketball games. Students and children should not be running and playing in the halls during the games.  Thank you for your cooperation.

HELP FOR HAITI

The Elementary Student Council has chosen to sponsor a series of fundraisers to help with the relief efforts toward Haiti.  After discussing many different charities, the kids have chosen to focus our efforts to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Our plan is to have a bake sale during the Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 11.  We will also be having a Hats On for Haiti Day on February 19.  Students will pay fifty cents to wear a hat on that Friday and the grade that collects the most money will choose a teacher to have an Ice Cream Sundae built on their head during an afternoon assembly on the 19th.  The kids will also be running a concession stand during the Science Fair on Tuesday, February 9, with the proceeds going to our fundraiser.

If you would like to help, you may do so by donating items for our bake sale during the week of February 8 or by making a monetary donation.  Any help you could give us would be greatly appreciated.  All donations may be brought to Mrs. Paulsen.  In addition, please congratulate our Student Council members for choosing to help such a worthwhile cause.
