Video Magnifier for the Blind Available at Elmwood Library
Are you, or do you now someone who is visually impaired and needs assistance to read books, correspondence, newspapers or other media? Well, the Elmwood Public Library might be your ticket!

The Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NCVBI) recently gifted the library with an ONYX Deskset Video Magnifier. The unit uses a camera which is attached to an adjustable arm. The arm broadcasts images of papers, books or even the user himself to a large view screen. “It’s very simple to use,” says librarian Anne Pope. “You literally turn it on and use the handheld control to zoom in or out, add reading lines or adjust coloring. There are so many features that I haven’t even played with, but I’m sure there are many in the community that will find it very useful.”
The video magnifier is installed at the Elmwood Public Library and may be used by anyone in the community during regular business hours.
Photo: Librarian Anne Pope demonstrates how easy it is to use the new video magnifier.
The Elmwood Library serves the areas of Elmwood, Murdock, and Eagle.
It’s open Monday through Thursday and Saturday mornings as well.

Living Nativity 2022
This past weekend almost 500 people toured the Living Nativity and learned about the true meaning of Christmas. What a blessing! The word is spreading, and new family traditions are being created.

Often the cats lay with the Baby Jesus in the manger.

Three, maybe four baby goats were born last week at the Living Nativity. Stop by and learn how people are like goats, and how we can learn a lesson through the goats in the Nativity.

For the past two years, musicians have volunteered their talents for the visitors.

Village Board Meeting
Board meetings are open to the public and are held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
The meetings are held at the new Village Board office located at the Learning Center on the south side of town.
Official agendas are posted the day before at the Post Office, Gas Station, and Village Office. Prior to the posting of the agenda, meeting items can be added to the meeting. At the end of each meeting is a Public Comment Section. Attendees have three minutes to speak about anything at this time. Further discussion on the topic can then be added to the next board meeting.
The agenda is posted at the Elmwood C-Store, the post office, and the Village office.
Minutes can be viewed at the Village office or can be found online.

Wouldn't it be amazing if the board meetings were FULL every time? This is your opportunity to be involved, be "in the know" and learn how to influence how your community grows, how improvements can be made, and how you can participate in the steps needed to MAKE IT HAPPEN.
