There’s a new BOOK WALK at the city park!
Senior Aireona Bouzek used some of her Senior volunteer hours to help the Elmwood Public Library assemble this month’s attraction. We thank her immensely for her hard work and positive attitude! The walk is made possible in part by a grant from the Nebraska Library Commission.
“Chicken Cheeks,” tells the story of a tower of animals trying to reach some deliciously fresh honey located high up in a tree. The moose’s caboose, turkey’s tushy and kangaroo’s keister are all stacked up and working together!
We hope that you and your family enjoys the book with a little bit of outdoor exercise and laughter!

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awards millions of dollars’ worth of lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations throughout the country. The lifesaving equipment purchased through these grants often provides an immediate impact on the recipients’ ability to better support their communities as Elmwood Rescue recently experienced during a cardiac arrest emergency.
Elmwood Rescue was awarded a chest compression system to help its medical crew respond to cardiac arrest emergencies in its rural response area. Shortly after the equipment arrived, the crew was dispatched to the scene of a man in respiratory distress. The team used the awarded device to provide continuous chest compressions until the patient’s pulse returned. Today, he is out of the hospital and able to resume a normal life.
“A big thank you to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for helping us purchase this lifesaving device!”
– Captain Ed Blunt, Elmwood Rescue

Village Board Meeting
Board meetings are open to the public and are held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
The meetings are held at the new Village Board office located at the Learning Center on the south side of town.
Official agendas are posted the day before at the Post Office, Gas Station, and Village Office. Prior to the posting of the agenda, meeting items can be added to the meeting. At the end of each meeting is a Public Comment Section. Attendees have three minutes to speak about anything at this time. Further discussion on the topic can then be added to the next board meeting.
The agenda is posted at the Elmwood C-Store, the post office, and the Village office.
Minutes can be viewed at the Village office or can be found online.
Wouldn't it be amazing if the board meetings were FULL every time? This is your opportunity to be involved, be "in the know" and learn how to influence how your community grows, how improvements can be made, and how you can participate in the steps needed to MAKE IT HAPPEN.
