EMMA will have a booth set up at the Cass County Fair in the Fair Building.
All members are encouraged to include a small display of their business or organization. We suggest the display be no bigger than an 8 1/2" x 11" poster in an acrylic poster display holder. You are welcome to include business cards or flyers for people to pick up. Set up will be Tuesday, August 10th at 7:00 pm at the Fair Building.
If you can't make that you can leave your items at Bits and Pieces by Saturday, August 7th at 4:00 pm and we will make sure your items are displayed. The booth will not be manned by EMMA members because we have found that people are more likely to browse through the booth if it is unmanned.
Tear down is Saturday, August 14th at the end of the evening. Any help is appreciated!
The Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association (EMMA) is an organized group of local merchants and individuals, working together to promote economic activity and business development in the Elmwood and Murdock community.
EMMA encourages volunteerism and sponsors community events, college scholarships, and community improvement projects. If you would like to be more involved in your community please come to the next meeting.

What the HECK is THIS?
A fun NEW FEATURE, I received this from a citizen. They found it after the wind storm. It appeared empty, but then they were chased by a large silver dollar-sized flying insect. They didn't stick around longer to investigate.

Elmwood Farmers Market News
Even though last Saturday was rainy the Farmers Market continued with diehard and dedicated vendors. Five set up in the park under the picnic shelter and two were at the Quonset with more "rain sensitive" products such as soap and candles.

Thank you to the customers that came out and supported our vendors. We had many of our regulars and a few visitors from other towns.

It is wonderful to see the kids participate and make this a family event.

In fact, the name of this booth is "Two Boys & a Garden" Thanks for Davian and Kayden for bringing your harvest.

It is a wonderful feeling to be able to go grocery shopping right in Elmwood. Farm to table is easy to do when you live in Nebraska. Sometimes we have no idea how lucky we are to live where we do.
Grocery Bags with a Mission
I was in error last week. It takes at least 700 BAGS to make a sleeping mat.

Linda said Matt Talbut Kitchen and Outreach Center prefers the name "unsheltered" and she gets the bags from various sources. Shopping, friends, shopping, and some just "show up" on her porch.
Maybe this winter, after the Farmers Market, she would be willing to show others how to do crochet these mats out of grocery sacks. Because seriously it seems like magic. We could do a regular coffee (or tea) social event, recycle and reuse plastic, do something for a good cause and continue our Saturday social circle.
It's amazing what the Farmers Market is doing on a weekly basis. Stop by and get to know some of the vendors. They have very interesting stories.

We have an amazing collection of vendors with hair jewelry, candles, honey, tea, canned goods, flowers, soap, crafts, and more.
Produce is starting to explode and if you are looking for cucumbers, zucchini, squash, beans, beets, and potatoes then get there EARLY!!
Get there early before they run out. It's going to be a great day for the Farmers Market with flowers and amazing vendors.
Saturdays from now until October
There is still room for MORE VENDORS - No signup, no fee, no mandatory number of times to set up. Just bring your tables and join us!

In coordination with St Paul Methodist Church, United Methodist Health Fund, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Bits & Pieces five bicycles are available to check out (just like a library book) and ride around town, to the park, or on the trail.

- To check out a bike, you must sign a waiver. General bike share program rules-
must show a drivers license at check out - 12-17 can rent bikes with a parent at check out. Parents take full responsibility and sign a waiver for their child.
- The bike is due back by the next Bits and Pieces business day. Plans are in the works to get a key dropbox. (Stay tuned.)
- The condition of the bike is checked at check out and when it is checked back in
when you check out a bike you are responsible for the bike. Any damage will result in a fee.
failure to return the bike by the due date will result in the suspension of your ability to check out bikes. - No holds/reservations on bikes will be allowed
- We do not provide helmets. You can bring your own helmet to use while riding the bike.
- Have fun!!!!
Funding for this project was provided in part by the United Methodist Health Fund, Hutchinson, Kansas.💗 About 30 people attended the official ribbon cutting on April 12th and I was even the first person to check out a bike. It's easy and once you are registered you just add the next date and time to the notebook.
