Elmwood Farmers Market

MAKE SURE TO COME OUT THIS SATURDAY 

YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU WILL FIND

With the Car Show in town this is a GREAT opportunity to set up a table with your produce, baked goods, crafts, and handiwork.

If you are looking for tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis you will find it here. Need a watermelon or cantaloupe then pick one up on Saturday.

If you have EXTRA produce, then bring it along. 

Last week you could get Almond danish and Whoopie pies, if you get there early you may even find Blueberry lemon baked rolls.

Love to cook, or want to spice up your cooking stop by and pick up some locally grown herbal seasonings and Jalapeno jellies. 

Coventon Crafts brought a table full of fabric food, marshmallow shooters, cloth face masks, cookies, and produce.
She even had hair ties, and cooling bandanas. Oh and up above is homemade fabric fishing poles, you know the magnet ones.

She won't be here every week, but will be here during the car show.

We can always use more vendors. More vendors attract more people. More people mean more vendors, more vendors mean more variety!!

More variety means you can do more of your shopping local instead of the "box" stores. 

Join our Facebook group and stay up to date on who will be showcasing their produce, baked goods, and other items. Ask if anyone is bringing eggs, honey, cinnamon rolls.

You may have noticed street barricades on West E street, heck if you live on the west side of town there is pretty much no way you can avoid the signs. So what are they doing? Repaving and putting in curbs.

There are business opportunities in Elmwood for office space and shared space opportunities.

If you know of a business needing a formal business setting then consider relocating to Elmwood.

Bess Street Aldrich House Quilt Show

Who would of thought of creating a bridal gown quilt out of handkerchiefs? This pieced wall hanging is dainty, unique and can be viewed at THE ELMS, or the Bess Streeter Aldrich House. 

A couple of years ago the carpets were pulled up and the original hardwood floor was restored.

If you haven't seen it then you head over on Saturday or Sunday afternoons between 1 pm -4 pm for a tour.

Another tradition you may have missed it the Lion Club peaches and pear sale. You can still order during the month of July. Don't forget.

 Take It Or Leave It Pantry

The free pantry is here to serve our community. It is for neighbors helping neighbors. Take what you need or leave what you can.

Those who wish to contribute may do so at their discretion when convenient.  If the box if full please bring your items back later. So what should you contribute? During this coronavirus situation, there will be an increased need for healthy snack items for kids. Obviously items like toilet paper, sanitizer may be needed by many. 

Please avoid harsh strong-smelling chemicals that may transfer to food items. 

Here are some ideas that may be useful:

• Pasta
• Canned or boxed pasta (macaroni & cheese is popular)
• Canned soup
• Granola bars
• Fruit snacks
• Dry pasta
• Spaghetti sauce
• Dry soup mixes
• Canned meat (chicken, tuna etc)
• Boxed prepared meal kits (hamburger helper etc)

4-H & Youth Development 
Nebraska 4-H Summer Camp

Nebraska 4-H will be offering 3 days of socially distanced in-person camp at the Eastern Nebraska 4-H Center in Gretna, Nebraska. Adventure Day Camps will take place on August 3, 5 & 7 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (with an extended evening option on Friday).

Sign up for 1 day OR all 3! Join us for zipline, fishing, canoeing, archery, crafts, water games and lots of fun!!!

All CDC, UNL, ACA and Local Health Department guidelines and regulations will be followed. More info, full camp descriptions and online registration click here.

Pricing: $80 per day (includes sack lunch and snack). $20 for extended Friday evening option (includes camper dinner). Registration includes a camper t-shirt!

 Weeping Water Pool is OPEN 

40 person capacity (Capacity has the possibility to increase)
Groups will be assigned seating areas to ensure Social Distancing
Groups are required to Social Distance from other groups

Pool swim shifts 12-3 and 3:30-6:30 Currently you will only be allowed one shift, this may change at a future date;

• Adult Fitness swim M-F 7:30-8:30 AM

• Toys will NOT be allowed this year in an attempt to limit exposure to germs
• Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a family member or nanny who is 16 years or older.
• Temperature and health check questions are required for admittance.
• The baby pool is closed this season
• Swimmers will need to shower with soap and water prior to entering the pool

Season passes will be available: Family, Single and 10 punch passes (waivers stating you understand the risk of exposure to COVID will be signed on pass forms a long with a one time signing when attending with Daily admission)
