If you haven't seen the Christmas trees and decorations at the Bess Streeter Aldrich House then get there is still time. 

 The Journey into Christmas theme is a walk through a different age. One that reminds us that sometimes simple is good.

A few springs of greenery, a bow, and an everyday object is given a Christmas flair and personality. 

Christmas gives you the excuse to slow down, take a deep breathe and relax. Life can be too hectic and stressful. Spend some time at the Journey Through Christmas and be reminded of an earlier time when we were not so rushed and stressed during the holidays. People spent time with their families and slowed down. 

Stop By and Visit, there is still time!

Every time I drive by the park I gaze at the beautiful gazebo all decorated and lite for Christmas.

I hope the gazebo lighting becomes an annual tradition and maybe next year we can have carolers!!

 Elmwood - Murdock 4th Graders selling Bakers Chocolates

Since 1992 the Elmwood-Murdock 4th graders have been selling Bakers chocolate meltaways to raise money for their Spring Nebraska History field trip. This year the selling season is extended. Not only will they be selling to neighbors friends and family, but they will be extending their reach and hopefully funds raised.

You can purchase one-pound bags for $9.50 from any 4th grader or at the following locations.

Three Elmwood-Murdock Teachers Recognized by University of Nebraska

Three EM high school teachers were recognized by UNL for positively shaping Husker's high school experiences. 

 Laura Rikli, Jacob Shaffer, Lance Steffen

"The project was intended to recognize the investment teachers make with their students, helping them earn a diploma and strive to attend college. The honor also reflects a Nebraska U belief that the path through college is just as important as the journey that brought students to campus."

 Short Story Contest 

Generate a fictional short story that is written in the wholesome spirit displayed by Bess Streeter Aldrich in her works while incorporating a theme that focuses on Nebraska’s family life, economy, history, cultural diversity, and/or geography (past, present, and/or future). Writers are encouraged to focus on historical and/or realistic topics. This year the Aldrich Foundation is paying tribute to Mrs. Aldrich’s book Spring Came on Forever and it would be an excellent resource.

Area News   

 The snow this week coated the landscape in white and if you haven't visited Main Street Murdock yet this month then now is the time to visit. The town is decorated with Christmas trees and there are too many to count.

It's a great setting to take family photos and create a new tradition. I just love traditions, don't you?
