The Village Board of Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Chairperson, Renee Holland, called the meeting to order at 7:19 pm. Holland stated that a current copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted.
Roll Call: Becky Kicak, Heather Scott, Patric Euse and Renee Holland and Tony Greise all present.

Public Comment Period
Julie Anderson thanks the board for what they are doing. She had a similar experience when she was on the board and they were working with the Olsson Group.
Carla Stander would like the board to look into limiting the number of refuse services allowed in the village
Deanne Sporhase states that Syracuse does not include trash service on water bills. This would be to limit the amount of trucks in town
Terry Carlson states that this has been discussed in the past and has not gone over well as everyone wants to use their own trash service.
New Business
Harvest Moon Hustle 2025
Euse moved to approve September 12th for the 2025 Harvest Moon Hustle, Kicak seconded. RCV: 5-0 ayes. Motion carried.
Anderson Conditional use permit
To abide by the regulations Mr. Anderson is asking that the verbiage “manufacturing” is added to his conditional use permit. Scott moved to approve adding the “manufacturing” verbiage to the permit, Greise seconded the motion. RCV: 5-0 ayes, motion carried.
Purchase a new scale for the chlorine distribution at the water treatment plant
The current scale and deliver system for chlorine distribution is broken and needs replaced. Quote reviewed from USABlueBook for $1636.39. Greise moved to approve the cost of the new equipment at $1636.39, Scott seconded the motion. RCV: 5-0 ayes, motion carried.
Unfinished Business
Hazardous material haul away with Safety Kleen
Euse motioned to approve the removal of Azone material for $1302.35, Greise seconded. RCV: 5-0 ayes, motion carried
AFLAC
Scott moved to approve adding AFLAC coverage as a payroll deduction, Euse seconded. RCV: 5-0 ayes
Camper behind Quonset
Kicak moved to pursue zoning/ordinance violation charges if the camper is still behind the Quonset after June 9th. Scott seconded the motion. RCV: 5-0 aye, motion carried
Reports/Boards, Commissions, and Committees
Library: next meeting 7/7
Park: First Pie Ride of the season on Thursday, June 5th w/ The McGovern String Band, tree has been removed from the park as well as on G Street between 1st and 2nd.
Streets: Patching material working so far where Kevin patched a hole
Water: Kevin will attend Mueller class on hydrants on 6/18 from 8-4. Water main repairs are completed on West D Street- concrete will be fixed at the same time as the other area east of there. Gate valves are starting to be cleaned out/replaced. Purchased a couple of repair kits for fire hydrants to use as needed in addition to copper fittings for emergency repairs. Button reader is down, plan to install new meter/readers at the locations without digital readers so we do not need to purchase another button reader. Meter pit at 209 West D will need to be fixed or replaced
Sewer: Johnson Service 5 year plan will be included in next year’s budget
