EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING
The Village Board of Trustees met in emergency session on Wednesday, March 19th, 2024. Chair Person, Renee Holland, called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm. Holland stated that a current copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act was available to board members and posted online for community members.

Discussion/Action Generator rental for water treatment plant. The village has been without power since around 1 PM today and OPPD estimates power will not return until Monday, March 24th. A text was sent to villagers asking them to reserve water while the village is without power. A bid was received from United Rentals for $4300 to rent a generator for a one week duration. The village will also need an electrician to wire the generator. Greise also mentioned the need to estimate the cost of diesel fuel to run the generator for 5 days. Discussion continued. Greise estimated that the generator would use 400 gallons of diesel fuel costing $1840 for the 5 day duration. Huxhold explained why we need the generator. In order to keep the lines pressurized and water flowing into the water tower, a well needs to be powered by a generator and Huxhold recommends well 6. Kicak notes that she did see two OPPD trucks in the village when she was arriving home from work. Huxhold notes that we can cancel the deal with United Rental up until 9 am on 3/20 and will do so if power does happen to come back on before then. Greise moved to approve the bid to rent a generator from United Rentals for $4300, up to $1000 for an electrician to install it at well 6, and $1840 for diesel fuel to keep it running. Euse seconded the motion. RCV: 4-0 ayes. Motion carried. The clerk notes that she will call Cass County Emergency management as needed if we need to provide drinking water to the community. That will depend on how long the village is without power.
