REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Meeting Held at Elmwood Village Hall

 

The Village Board of Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Chairperson Miki Bruns called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Bruns stated that a current copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted. Roll Call was answered by Jared Blunt, Renee Holland, Becky Kicak & Miki Bruns, Pat Wray teleconferenced in at 7:00pm.

Minutes: Kicak made a motion, seconded by Blunt to approve December 16, 2020 Minutes. RCV: Yes: All. Approved 5-0.

Wray made a motion, seconded by Holland to approve the Claims/Payroll for December 21st, 2020 – Jan 6, 2021. RCV: Yes: All Approved 5-0

New Business

Discussion/Action Electrical Panel at 113 West E Street – Old Office                                                               

Board members discussed the concerns of the current electrical panel not being up to code and that it would not be able to run the freezers and fridges for the food pantry. The board members feel it should be priority to get the panel updated in the building. Motion made by Holland to approve the Bid for $500 by L&K Electric, Second by Kicak. RCV: Yes: All. Motion approved 5-0

Motion made by Kicak, second by Holland to waive the 3 readings. RCV: Yes: All. Motion approved 5-0

Motion made by Wray to approve Ordinance 2021-1, Second by Holland. RCV: Yes: All. Discussion/Action Lease Agreement – Final Copy                                                                                             

Bruns let the board know that the water meter in question was stated clearly in the lease and asked the board members if they had anything further to add or comment on for the final copy of the lease. No further comments or concerns were mentioned.  Kicak made a motion to approve the final copy of the lease agreement between the Village of Elmwood and St. Paul United Methodist Church in part with the Cass County Food Bank, Second by Blunt. RCV: Yes: All. Motion approved 5-0                                           

Discussion/Action Hotel Expense for Jeff to stay in Blair for Water Classes                                             

Kicak made a motion to approve Jeff’s Hotel expense, food, milage and book expense for his Grade 4 Water Operator Class January 13-15 in Blair Nebraska, Second by Holland. RCV: Yes: All. Motion approved 5-0

Discussion/Action New Estimate from NE Generator Service LLC                                                                        

Nebraska Generator Service LLC Sent a new estimate with the requested itemized items. Holland made a motion to approve the Estimate of $1,783.10 with Nebraska Generator Services for the additional upkeep maintenance that has not been done in 10 years, Second by Kicak. RCV: Yes: All. Motion approved 5-0

Library: Motion made by Kicak to approve the library payroll and Claims for December, Second by Blunt. RCV: Yes: All. Motion approved 5-0                                                                                                                           

Park: No Report                                                                                                                                                               

Streets:  Christensen Tree Service trimmed trees that are overgrown into the street on 2nd & D Street free of charge. Jeff received a complaint on the trees hitting cars when cars/buses were in passing in that area.                                                                                                                                                                     

Jeff thanked the board for their support on his first-time pushing snow for the Village.                              

Water: New meters were installed on well #5 and well #6.
