Youth-To-Carnegie Hall T-Shirts
The Youth-to-Carnegie Hall kids and parents are selling t-shirts to help raise money for their trip to Carnegie Hall next May. If you haven’t heard the story yet our high school choir has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall next May. The kids and parents have been conducting many fundraisers to raise money to offset the cost of the trip. It doesn’t take only practice, practice, practice to get to Carnegie Hall, it also takes $2000 per person. Each family is responsible for their fee and have been making payments to the fund but if we can raise money it will help with the expenses. I say, “We” because my daughter is going, too, so we are very involved with the fundraisers.
The latest fundraiser is selling the t-shirts that were designed by Millie Anderson, Ashli Brown, and Griffin Hovorka. The front of the shirt has their design while the back lists the sponsors who helped pay for this project. The sleeve will have a remembrance for Dillon, Tyler, and AJ. The whole trip is dedicated to their memory. The students will also wear the shirts on the trip so that the chaperones will be able to easily spot them.
If you are interested in purchasing a shirt just let me know and I’ll hook you up! They are $12 for youth, $15 for adults up to size XL and $16 for larger adult sizes. The shirts are very cool and we would appreciate the support!

Schoolhouse Fiddle Workshop for Folks Who Have Never Fiddled
For folks who have never played a fiddle or violin, and are brave enough to try, come to the Schoolhouse Fiddle Workshop for Folks Who Have Never Fiddled. Championship fiddler and fiddle book author, Deborah Greenblatt, will share some hints about beginning fiddling, shopping for a fiddle, reading music, playing by ear, etc. Fiddles will be available for participants to play, and source lists and advice for further study will be provided. The Workshop takes place on Saturday, January 3, 2009, 1PM - 3 PM, in the Old Avoca Schoolhouse, Avoca, Nebraska. Pre-registration is required, and enrollment is limited.

Christmas Weekend Fun @ the Rink
The weekend was full of family parties, birthday parties, and just your average kids and families having fun. There were potlucks, pizza, fudge, and cake. Not to mention the chocolate chip cookies. I hope you never get tired of hearing about the wild times at the rink because I never get tired of talking about it!
Jessie Spaulding and Paige Vogler are guest DJs at the after school skate.
Cody and Shay take a break from skating.
Rick and Mickie Clements brought their family down to skate Saturday night.
The Clements family knows how to do the Locomotion. It’s a lost art!
Rick and grandson, Drake
Alicia Clements and son, Drake
There was a lot of dancing Saturday night!
Our granddaughter, Emma, with her Uncle Joe
Our son and daughter-in-law, Aarin and Mariko, hosted four seventh grade girls from Japan over the Christmas holiday. One of them is Mariko’s niece. They came skating and had fun pushing Emma around. Mariko translated the rules for dodgeball and they joined right in!
Vince’s other granddaughter, Madison.
Bradly joined in with the ladies at an impromptu line dancing class.
These ladies knew what they were doing!
The Flying Wheels staff prepares for the all nighter by setting traps out the back door to catch anyone trying to sneak out. (You do know that is just a joke?)
Millie, Joe, Brody, Kalee, and Bradly try out the new Rock Band game. Bradly must be taking the pictures because he isn’t in them.
