Homecoming update:

We had one more shopping trip for a homecoming dress…this time for Kalee…isn't she beautiful? She wanted a dress that wasn't too foofoo. Her dad wanted a dress that didn't show too much skin. And we found one. But you will have to wait until the big event to see the final one!

Guess the joke is on me…the drop box for the post office is back in its original location. (deep sigh) I thought we were making some progress but apparently it was just moved temporarily due to the construction. I had started setting up paying bills on line until I saw the mailbox had moved to the alley. That's when I thought it would be easy to drop off the bills in the mail so I didn't pursue it. Now I suppose I will…mostly because I don't want to get out of the car when it is cold…I'm delicate. I know there are probably rules and regulations that must be met in order to have the box facing the alley and we don't meet them. It would have just been a good thing though. (again…deep sigh)

Hey, at least we have a good concrete pad for the trash can.

Merl Is All Wet but Finishes his Project!

Merl Merchant shows dedication to completing his project even if the rain won't let up. Merl is the new owner of the Sign and Screen Shop. He had a deadline and didn't let the weather get in his way.

FBLA Helps Out

The Elmwood-Murdock FBLA group turned out in force Saturday morning. Where were you at 8 a.m. Saturday morning? When the air was cool and the sky was drizzling a soft rain? Home in bed, curled up dreaming of warm muffins? Not the FBLA club! Led by Kurk Shrader, 13 members showed up at the park to beautify the garden area. They clipped, hauled, trimmed, and pulled weeds to make it look sharp. The sign was given a coat of sealer for the winter to protect it. Believe it or not it took them less than 30 minutes to complete this task. I'm wondering if they rent their services out? I can just imagine what they could do in my yard in 30 minutes.

Youngest Skater Yet?

Jordyn Campbell followed in sister, Shay's foot steps this weekend when she put the roller skates on for the first time. Brooke helped her make a lap around the floor and she loved it! She laughed and giggled the whole way. She can barely walk on her own and I can't help but wonder if she will be skating before she is walking.

SKATE/DODGE at the Rink Saturday Night!

Stop in the name of the Law!

Did you know that when you enter Elmwood from the north that the speed limit drops to 25 mph right before the park. No? Me neither. Lucky for me I had a very nice deputy point it out to me. I probably would have noticed the sign…or at least the deputy sitting in front of the bank…had I not been watching that little white dog that's been living in our neighborhood. If you have a female dog that isn't fixed you know the dog I mean. He doesn't appear to be vicious, just very independent…and very open to a relationship…if you know what I mean. I did call the local animal control officer about it and he agreed that he could haul him away…if he could catch him. I know what he is talking about…I can't catch him either. But I digress…the point is that the speed limit does change as you are entering town and we should all pay attention to that. I've told you before; I'm just as guilty as the next guy about speeding. Let this be a warning to you all!!

And a special thanks to Ed for calling the kids at the rink to let them know I was stopped by the deputy. I appreciate your concern! J

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming, "Whoo Hoo, What a ride!"

Maxine Birthday Dance ecard from Hallmark Ecards

I agree…What a ride! Have a great week!
