What is the news this week?
It snowed! Yes, the white stuff that covers everything, makes the roads slick and is pretty to look at but not drive in, nor stay out too long. Unless your a kid making a snowman and it was perfect snowman snow. Something we don't get in Nebraska very often.
I also took a photo trip around Elmwood as it was so pretty. If you didn't get out, or don't live in Elmwood any longer (which many of our readers are from out of state) here are some snow photos.
There wasn't anyone playing on the playground equipment, but it sure was pretty.
The Bess Streeter Aldrich house was covered in a white dusting and I can only imagine that during the time when Mrs. Aldrich was writing a day like Sunday gave her inspiration to write about blizzards and snow storms. Instead we NetFlix binge during cold winter days that keeps us inside.
Last but not least I had to take a photo of my favorite barn (corn crib) north of town. It has been my favorite photography subject for many years. It is now being dismantled piece by piece and will disappear from the landscape. It makes me sad ad it has been a landmark for so many years.
At least the wood is being re-purposed and recycled and the old girl will continue to live on to have another purpose.

Work on N-63 Alvo North Realignment
March 15, 2018 (Lincoln, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work is scheduled to continue the week of March 19 on N-63, between Alvo and I-80, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Knife River, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa has the $11,758,926 contract. Work will include realignment of N‑63, culverts and box culverts, and wetland mitigation. This will be the second of two phases of work.
During this phase, N-63 will be closed to traffic from Reference Post 4+20 (Alvo) to Reference Post 9+68 (Church Road). A marked detour will be in place along I-80 to N-66 to N-50 to US-34 for southbound traffic and along US-34 to N-50 to N-66 to I-80 for northbound traffic.
This portion of the project is anticipated to be completed in ________________ who knows, November is past and the highway is far from being complete.
The Department’s project manager is Jesse De Los Santos of Lincoln. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through work zones and along detours.
