Elmwood City Park
Sunday, June 3 4-6pm
The Elmwood Library has a special event planned for Sunday, June 3!
To kick off our Summer Reading Program and its theme, "Library Rocks!" we're going to rock out at the city park!
The fun starts with TWO food trucks ready to serve you!
The Tastee Trailer (you may remember the old Tastee In and Out in Lincoln) and Kona Ice (Hawaiian-style shaved ice) will have supper and dessert ready for you!
Tastee Trailer is actually opening earlier in the day at 11 am. Kona Ice will get started at 4 pm.
The Librarian's Table will open at 4 pm. Be sure to get a $1.00 food truck coupon (compliments of American Exchange Bank) by showing your Elmwood Public Library Card. Or, apply for your own NEW card and you can still get a coupon!
The librarian will also have information and pre-registration sheets for the Summer Reading Program.
Dates for the program are June 6, 13, 20, & 27.
Kids in grades K-6 are welcome to come read books, play games and make crafts designed to enhance their knowledge about music and sound.
Always popular with the little ones, we'll have a face painting station too!
Sponsored by Cindy Mather and Cindy Hovorka from "Your Thairapist," the kids will look LOVELY for what comes next.
Starting at 5 pm, the String Beans will take the stage. Based out of Lincoln, Nebraska, the String Beans perform a wide variety of family-friendly songs about all the things kids love: animals, cartoons, food, etc. Since debuting in 2004, the String Beans have released 10 albums and have appeared at numerous festivals, concerts, and regional television programs. They're energetic, silly and lots of fun.
We suggest that you bring your own lawn chair and enjoy the food, music and close feeling of community as we welcome summer in style!
You can also visit the Overdrive website for more information on checking out electronic books and media.
www.help.overdrive.com
Be sure to stop by the library and check out the new book series that just arrived. The DVD set is also available.
NOT telling you what series it is, but once you find out there will be a list to get them. It's THAT popular

Last Weekend got rained out in the Aldrich gardens, but tea was still served on the porch.
But this weekend should be nice, so plan on coming out and and having a cup of tea and relaxing a bit with friends.
The Christian Church Women's Group will be hosting "Tea in the Garden" every Saturday and Sunday in May from 1:00 -4:00
A great time to gather with friends, relax and enjoy the spring weather. Inside the museum is a collection of tea cups, teapots, and tea service ware which is a reminder of how people entertained guests years ago. I wish we could go back to it now.
Next week stay tuned for even more photos of the Tea Time exhibit.

Missoula Children’s Theatre at the Lofte Theatre
[May 9, 2018] - The Lofte Community Theatre will be holding open auditions for its Summer Children’s Theatre event with Missoula Children’s Theatre on Monday, June 11 at 10am. This year’s production is, “Blackbeard the Pirate.”
This is a week-long residency for all children who will be entering first through seventh grade. Participation is completely free to all children. This program is designed to build confidence and friendships. During auditions, children will be asked to stand in a big circle on the Lofte’s stage while two directors instruct them to sing out loud and recite simple dialogue, either alone or in a small group. The audition process will take approximately two hours. At noon, approximately 60 parts will be assigned and schedules handed out for that week’s rehearsals. There is no guarantee that everyone will get a part.
All rehearsals will take place at the Lofte between 10am and 2:30pm through June 15. Actors are required to be on time attend all of their practices during the week. The Lofte reminds parents to pack your child a sack lunch every day (including audition day) as little ones do work up an appetite!
Two public performances will take place on Saturday, June 16, one at 3pm and one at 6pm. Tickets may be purchased from the Lofte box office. Those who have questions may contact the Lofte at 402.234.2553 or by emailing LoftePR@Lofte.com.
