Elmwood Nebraska News

We are over halfway through January and coming up on a new month. Wow, 2017 is still brand new, yet it seems the newness has worn off for many. I myself am looking forward to spring, sunshine and nice weather. These cloudy, foggy days are enough for me.

But there is still plenty to get you out and about in our community. School basketball games, the upcoming Blood Drive at the Elmwood Fire Hall, and the Annual Trinity Lutheran Church Farm Auction at Round the Bend.

Remember to send me community updates and news. I need Volleyball news, school news and photos of Christmas lights! Email your church announcements, community, business and school news to editor@elmwoodnebraska.com by Sunday night.

Trinity Auction 2017

Yes, you're seeing this right, a Farm Auction. You may not live on a farm or acreage, but a farm auction is an excuse to get out and socialize. There will be lunch served in the back and includes home-made pies!!

Proceeds go to mission outreach and local organizations. Last year thousands of dollars were donated to fire and rescue organizations who service our local area.

Honoring Girls Scouts in February

Nebraska author Bess Streeter Aldrich was known to teach cooking classes to neighborhood girls and, of course, was an advocate of reading and writing. It is with this knowledge, that the Aldrich Board has decided to honor Girls Scouts during February by letting them have a free tour. ( Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska) There will be an exhibit of vintage dolls, Barbies, and tea sets on display, too.

The Aldrich House is open on Saturdays and Sunday from 1 to 4 or by appointment. Please help share this post with any Girl Scout leaders in your area.
