  • Veterans Day activities
  • Thanksgiving
  • AND....Christmas right around the corner

So what are you doing this fall? What is your church doing, your club or organization? Send me the news and I'll put it in the newsletter.

Elmwood Bloodmobile

641px American Red Cross BloodmobileSince I'm new at the newsletter, people don't think of adding me to their announcement list ahead of time. But thanks

to Joann Hill for remembering to send a THANK YOU to everyone that donated blood at the Elmwood blood mobile this past Monday.

People from Murdock and Elmwood came out and gave the gift of life.

Promise will will let everyone know in advance next time.

Elmwood Community Center

communitycenter

There is lots going on at the Elmwood Community Center.

Did you know that they have an open coffee bar with sweets for all ages who would like to stop by and get coffee in the morning. I'm going to have to check it out. I wonder if they will let me walk my dog there?

Thai Chi class Starting October 11

Every Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 AM

TaiChiI don't even know what Thai Chi is but it's supposed to be low impact and teaches balance. All for a low of $.50 suggested donation per class. Shoot I'll give more than that to strengthen my core! Who's with me?

Helen would also like to thank everyone who brought their extra garden bounty to the center this summer. It was used to help with the food budget in serving meals to seniors and many was given to our areas senior citizens who live on fixed incomes.

Meal gift certificates for meals are available at the Community Center and would make a great Christmas gift. Many people purchase them for our area Senior Citizens who are on fixed incomes to make sure they get hot healthy and balanced meals throughout the week.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins and MORE Pumpkins!!

Here's my Jack O'Lantern from last year. Have I told you I have three Marines in our family? If you have military news on veterans I would love to include it for Veterans Day.

Elmwood Park Project Survey

 playground equipment

Yes, I said the survey closed at the end of September, but the survey queen gave us more time. Think about what type of playground equipment makes you jump on board.

What playgrounds in other communities have you stopping on your trip and wishing you had something like this in your town. You don't have to vote on just what is listed, add your own ideas, thoughts and suggestions.

This is for the future of your park. Think about the following items and give the Park Committee your ideas.

Do you like all the hills at the park, have you ever even noticed them?

  • Adult Fitness Equipment
  • Multi-generational swings
  • Gazebo and Band shell combination (think concerts in the park)

Head over to the survey here and let us know what you think.

Survey is still open, so let your voices be heard!

Are you all fingers when it comes to braiding your little girls hair?

I know I was and I would of loved to had a hands on braiding workshop. These cute hairstyles are all the rage on PINTEREST and they are adorable.

There are several Mom's in the area that have mastered these braiding techniques and I see their daughters in church and they always make me smile.

Sign up on the Cindy Mathers's Facebook event page and let her know you're excited on attending.

Pass the word and if this is successful she will have more.

Yes, we have another volleyball great in our midst in the form of 6'2" Abby Meyer and she is heading to the University of Nebraska, Omaha to play Division I volleyball. She was recently featured in a great article by the Lincoln Journal.

Head over to the school and watch the girls volleyball in action. You can also watch the games online, thanks to Jim Rust who fatithfully records the games and posts them to Vimeo.

Homecoming Week

HomecomingdoorHave you noticed all the Homecoming window decorations around town! What fun!

Make sure to go to the game this Friday and support the school. Meet some friends that may only come back home during homecoming.

Isn't that the meaning of the word...and just have fun.

Get to the field early as the Elmwood-Murdock SOS is having their annual soup supper starting at 5:00 and it's always good. I know I've been several years.

The Elmwood-Murdock Football team is halfway through their season. Thank you in advance to all the parents, students and fans who cheer them on each week.

Here are the statistics for all of the games combined of the season for the sports statistics junkie in all of you. Find out which Elmwood-Murdock player has the most yards passing, most running yards and keep track of your local team from anywhere. Thanks Julie Schmale for sending these on a weekly basis.

Did you know that Elmwood-Murdock Varsity Football games can be watched live on STRIVE TV.

Obviously it's best if you can make it to a game, but if you live out of town and still want to cheer on the Knights you can do so from the comfort of your living room, or any computer.

Elmwood Christian Church

Sunday School Field Trip!

I love the music and at one time played in the chime choir at Trinity Lutheran church. Bell choirs are inspiring and a lot of fun.

Last week the kids from Elmwood Christian Church the visited Havelock Christian Church in Lincoln and helped with the bell choir (which they LOVED). Afterwards all enjoyed burgers, ice cream and the play land at McDonald's.

Check it out on their Facebook page  to listen to the video of them playing or stop by for service on Sunday at 10:00 am

Next Wednesday gather some soap and your appetite for supper for some good food and some good will.
