You will be required to show a current valid rabies vaccination certificate, and/or proof of spaying or neutering certificate issued by a veterinarian.
This licensing is a requirement of State Ordinance 93.40. All dogs or cats over 6 months of age are required to be vaccinated for rabies and have a valid license. Any dog or cat found running at large with or without licensing may be impounded and a $50.00 fine charged for its return; if impounded a second time the fine will be $100.00, and the third time it is impounded the fine will be $150.00. In addition to the impound fee, the pet owner will be responsible for licensing fees if the pet is found running at large without a license.
This licensing is mandatory and anyone not acquiring a license for their pet by May 15, 2015, will be in violation of the law and subject to a citation. If you have not secured a 2015 license for your pet by May 15, 2015, you will be responsible for the license fee per pet in addition to a late fee charge of $50.00 per animal.
