Grand Opening of Fusselman - Allen - Harvey Funeral Home in Elmwood

Fusselman - Allen - Harvey Funeral Home, formerly Fusselman - Wymore, held a grand opening Saturday for their Elmwood location. The facility had sustained some damage last year in a wind/rain storm and has been completely remodeled.  The new owners, Doug and Linda Allen and Brian and Tina Harvey had worked with Fusselman - Wymore for many years, so it was an easy transition into the new partnership.  Linda Allen, a counselor in the Louisville school district and Tina Harvey, a lead teacher in the Bellevue School System both are active in the business end of the corporation.  John Fusselman, a Funeral Director for over 60 years, and newly-licensed funeral director Cody Busekist complete the funeral directors available to serve the community.  The company owns four other funeral homes in Syracuse, Louisville, Plattsmouth, and Weeping Water.  The Allens' daughter, Jennie is currently attending Midland University majoring in Business and Mortuary Science with minor in Marketing.  She will eventually join the family business.

Members of the Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association were on hand to welcome the new business owners and to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony.  EMMA president, Kurk Shrader, and EMMA merchants, Donna Clements, of Grandpa Woods, and Rick Clements, of the American Exchange Bank, held the ribbon while Tina Harvey and Linda Allen cut the ribbon.  Many family members, EMMA merchants, and members of the public were on hand to celebrate the event.  For more information about the Fusselman - Allen - Harvey Funeral Home visit their website at www.fusselmanallenharvey.com.  For more information about the Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association, visit their website at www.elmur.org.

BIG BUCK CLASSIC Proves to be BIG!!!!

The Big Buck Classic was held last weekend at the Quest Center in Omaha.  It is a hunter's paradise.  There were displays of antlers, mounted deer, bows, guns, trucks, and much more.  Joe, Trevor Lockman, and I made the trek to the Quest to take it all in.  We met up with one of Joe's mentor's, Kevin Markt, who gave us a quick tour.  He introduced Joe to several people who had helped with the mentor program.  We even got to meet Greg Wagner!  Joe had no idea who he was but I was excited!  If you don't know Greg Wagner you must not listen to the radio or watch the news.  He is with the Nebraska Games and Parks and is always promoting the great outdoors and the Nebraska parks.  He doesn't mind making fun of himself to do it.  We saw Roger Buck from Murdock there working the Bowhunters of Nebraska booth.  He taught the bowhunters safety class that the boys took.  It was a fun time!  For more pictures of the Big Buck Classic check out the Murdock Newsletter!
