Village of Elmwood
June 2, 2011
The Village of Elmwood Board of Trustees met in regular session with Trustees Ronhovde, Blunt, Allgayer and
Chairman Ernst presiding. Clymer was absent. All signed the “Notice of Acknowledgement of Meeting”.
Chairman Ernst declared the Open Meeting Act Posted. Joseph Jennings, Angie Buckner, Diann Stille, Eugenia
Bornemeier, Butch Sailors and Becky vonRentzell were also in attendance.
Minutes from the meeting on 5/19/11 were presented. Chairman Ernst requested to clarify the Planning
Committee presented minutes with potential names of board members. Chairman Ernst declared the minutes
approved as amended.
Streets: Discussion of abating the alley to the West of “1st” Street, signatures of the property owners need to be
obtained. Allgayer offered to contact Dan Novak regarding the water runoff from the school property to “G”
Street. The grate on “1st” and “G” needs cleaned. No further action taken.
Park: Ronhovde reported the park looked wonderful for the 125th Birthday Celebration. She appreciates
Jacob Blunt and Clint Bornemeier for their hard work. Ronhovde also reported 275 people attended the picnic
Library: No Action Taken.
Water: Blunt reported the Village received two quotes to repair the water tower. Maguire Iron in the amount
of $14,540 and Utility Service Co. in the amount of $8,500. Blunt volunteered to contact references. Clerk
vonRentzell was instructed to add cleanup day on 6/18/11 to the bottom of the water/sewer bills.
Sewer: Blunt reported the UV lights were installed at the beginning of May. Blunt also reported the sludge pit
was decanted and ready to haul sludge away when needed.
Comp & Zoning: No Action Taken.
Planning Committee: No Action Taken.
Community Development: No Action Taken.
Elmwood’s 125th Birthday Celebration Committee: Allgayer suggested changing the name to ”Elmwood’s
Special Event” Committee. No Action Taken.

Motioned by Allgayer, 2nd by Blunt to approve and instructed the Treasurer to pay the claims as presented.

Unfinished Business: Discussion of hiring for the maintenance position. Clerk vonRentzell was instructed
to re-post the advertisement in the Lincoln Journal Star after getting the board’s approval of the new posting.
Motioned by Allgayer, 2nd by Blunt to repost the maintenance position. Aye: All, Nay: None. Absent: Clymer.
Joseph Jennings re-submitted a fence permit. Motioned by Blunt, 2nd by Ronhovde to approve Jennings fence
permit. Aye: All, Nay: None. Absent: Clymer.
New Business: Discussion of an abundance of tires at Big Dan’s Auto Shop. Clerk vonRentzell was instructed
to send a letter regarding the violation. Blunt reported citizens were misusing the brush pile and requested to
lower the existing signs so they were more visual. Blunt requested to move the old computer from City Hall to
the WWTF once the new computer was completely programed.
Building Permits: Blake Ulmer requested a permit to build a garage. Tabled until more information was
