Elmwood Newsletter - January 9, 2013
There are some exciting changes going on in Elmwood on Main street. We have a few new businesses that have opened up in the last year or so. I commend the people who are following their dreams and investing in Elmwood and the people here. The latest to open is Then & Again. It is a store with an eclectic inventory. You will find anything from antiques, to doilies, to that perfect purse you've been searching for. There is even a section for men called Lou's Garage. Lou Allgayer is responsible for filling that area. You just never know what you might find...perhaps that perfect piece of PVC pipe? Kelly and Ryan Anderson have renovated the Masonic lodge building on the corner of 4th and D street into this very interesting store. Deb Lenz of the 4th Street Market liked what they were doing and decided to take them up on their offer to rent out the basement for her business. She recently moved her wine, flowers, and gift items across the street. She has more room for a bigger inventory and there is a kitchen. This week she will start offering hard pack ice cream with cupcakes soon to follow. She has many plans for the extra space which we will be talking about here!
Jennifer Vogt along with the help and dedication of her husband, Mike, have opened Gather Boutique. Jen is so creative and can take the most boring, mundane item and spiff it up to make it the most exciting decoration you can imagine. When you walk into her shop it is as if you've stepped into a Country Living magazine. Because she also has a full time job her hours have been limited but she is starting to be open more. She will be open this weekend from 10-3 and she is having a 10% off sale!
Josoff's have done major rennovations to their facility. Besides being a work out facility it is also a lounge offering food and fun. For the first time ever in Elmwood history you can sit down and have dinner and a beer in a restaurant. The Red Cedar Lounge has a beautiful lounge area that they have put a lot of time and money into creating. You can also rent out the social hall for your own events.
The Elmwood C Store has all your basic grocery needs. You can get gas, grab a sandwich, milk, and a movie all in one stop. You can even drop off your recycling items here, too. If you have big items to be recycled talk to Jim down at the store and he may be able to haul that away for you. The Elmwood C Store also serves as the area tourist information center. Stop in if you have questions about area attractions. They have a wall set up with all that information.
Plan a day of shopping and fun in Elmwood. Stop by Bits and Pieces to see what the bargains are and move on down the street to see what Jen has at the Gather. Kelly will be waiting for you at Then & Again with her daughter Lia as a personal guide around the store. The 4th Street Market will have ice cream and plenty to look at. Stop in at the Elmwood C Store for gas, groceries, and some friendly chit chat. Don't forget the Red Cedar Lounge! Relax and put your feet up and have a good time with friends. Maybe catch a game, too!
Elmwood is small but growing all the time. Take time to check out the local businesses and see what fun we have going on in Elmwood!
